Wow…Adrice Wines finally releases a RESERVE Syrah.  No one should be surprised, as Syrah is winemaker Pam’s favorite varietal and she’d so darned gifted at making them!  Wineries across Washington generally agree, that to use the term “Reserve” on a wine – it must mean something special.  The specific guideline is that only 3000 cases or 10% of an entire winery’s production (whichever is greater) can fall into the “Reserve” category – implying that the best grapes, from the best vineyard, in the best barrels, with the best, most meticulous winemaking practices can qualify to be called “Reserve” wine.  Our 2019 Reserve Syrah meets all those criteria and more – and is indeed some of the finest small-lot Reserve wine Pam has produced at only 105 cases.

Let’s start with a shout out to our Vineyard Partner – Brad at Les Collines Vineyard in Walla Walla, WA.  Seated at the base of the Blue Mountains, Les Collines produces 13 different grape varietals and sells their high-end fruit to only 40 premium wineries in Washington and Oregon.  Out of over 1900 wineries across those two states, award-winning Adrice Wines is blessed enough to be in partnership with Les Collines.  Next, raise a glass to winemaker Pamela Adkins, an International award-winning winemaker when it comes to Syrah.  In her ’13, ’14, ’15 & ’17 Syrah vintages – she won 6 gold medals and 3 silver medals – and received 89 points from Robert Parker.  If that woman doesn’t know how to make Syrah – I don’t know who does!

Now let’s get this dance of love started!  Our 2019 Reserve Syrah is a, “Dress-me-up-and-take-me-to-the-ball” kind of wine.  Do NOT expect a bold punch in the face – this wine is far more subtle and sophisticated than that!  She’s extremely elegant and deserves to be served with the best and freshest Sunday night dinner you can make!  As you lift your glass to your nose, it’s as if she gracefully extends a gloved hand in your direction hoping that you’ll take her out to the dance floor for a whirl.  You’ll immediately pick up subtle floral and savory aromas of lavender, violet, earthy mushroom, faint white pepper, black olive, black currant, and bacon fat.  We’re talking refined, and elegant.  As the wine dances over your palate, she glides first left, then right, twirling across your palate with notes of dark plum and black cherry and a hint of black olive.  She pauses for a beat or two on your back palate.  You gently place your hand on her upper back to signal the end-of-dance-dip….and she gracefully leaves you with a long, deep finish while also demonstrating moderate acidity and brightness – like she has the energy to dance all night!

Reserve Syrah she is.  Elegant.  Subtle.  Sublime.  She’ll continue to complexify with age if you have the patience.  Your joints may stiffen with age – but hers’ won’t.  Serve this beauty with lighter, fresher foods.  Roasted meats or pork with rice pilaf.  Seared Petit Filet Mignon or Sirloin with steamed parsley potatoes.  Mussels or clams in Herbs de Provence.  Or go for broke and serve her with bacon-fat-fried potatoes.  Our 2019 Reserve Syrah will soon become your favorite dance partner!
