Even though we own a winery…and are surrounded by thousands of bottles of wine…all spring and summer long, cases of French White Bordeaux wine show up on our doorstep to enjoy throughout the warmer days of summer. Winemaker Pam just LOVES her some White Bordeaux Blend. And truly…the French simply do something magical with these two grapes.
As we tell everyone in the tasting room – a Bordeaux blend is always a blend of Sauv Blanc and Sémillon – Sauv Blanc brings the bright, tartness; Sémillon softens the wine up and makes it food friendly. It might have been 2023’s week-long trip to Bordeaux, France…but winemaker Pam “found the French magic” …and this 2023 Vintage of Leadfoot Louie is as close as it gets to an authentic French white Bordeaux blend!
Leadfoot Louie is soft and approachable with aromas of Hibiscus and Granny Smith apple. Dive deeper into the glass, and you’re enveloped in more apple, vanilla, Asian pear, and basil on the palate with a medium dry finish.
Food pairings? Fragrant French Bordeaux blends deserve French cheeses & Charcuterie: Stilton Blue, Gorgonzola, Brie, Gruyere, or nutty Comte. Throw some Salumi or smoked pork belly on that board and call it dinner! Or consider serving Leadfoot Louie with seafoods like scallops, halibut, or mussels. If you love aromatic, beautiful white blends that have NOT been oaked…you’re going to LOVE our 2023 Leadfoot Louie!
