Name Origin: Alegría means JOY in Spanish, and wait till you taste this amazingly beautiful wine – it will bring JOY to both your mouth and your life! 

It’s been two years now since these grapes were picked, crushed, fermented, barreled, and then bottled…and our 2021 Alegría is a perfect “ready to drink now or hold for up to 7 years” wine.  Alegría this vintage will surprise and delight you!  You might think that with 85% Grenache, she’s going to be predominantly a lighter, red fruit wine.  But this year, she’s BIG and BEAUTIFUL thanks to both the Petit Verdot and Merlot!

The first thing you’ll notice in the glass is her gorgeous medium ruby color.  Give your glass a swirl and you’ll see legs for days.  Smell sweet balsamic strawberry and cherries thanks to the Grenache.  Right behind that – a slice of blood orange…and faint white pepper.  So complex!  That sweetness from the nose (and complexity) almost fools your tongue into thinking Alegría’s a sweet wine – “Al contrario mi hermano” (did you get that language mix up???  “not so little mister!”)  The Petit Verdot shines in this wine and brings the wine to life, gracing your palate with juicy acidity and smooth tannins.  You’ll taste that yummy ripe Grenache red fruit of strawberry and cherry – together with a bit of blood orange and a medium dry finish.

Another food wine – serve Alegría with roasted & stuffed portobello mushrooms, a roasted pork loin in Asian 5-Spices, or bring a bottle with you to your favorite restaurant that serves a great Duck dish…and you’ll be dancing the salsa all night in your head while enjoying Alegría and the Duck together.

We encourage you to let Alegría breathe for about 15 minutes before serving - allowing her higher alcohol to dissipate a bit and that amazing nose to unfurl.  That should be just enough time to rinse your last pot, turn down the lights, play your favorite tunes, light some candles, and serve up not only a BOTTLE of ALEGRÍA – but a Table of JOY !  EN-JOY!
