Who doesn’t love a strong, self-sufficient woman in a barrel room? We sure do…because we know that’s where winemaker Pamela does some of her best work! Sporting her Adrice Wines logo tattoo (BTW - so does Pam – ask her to show it to you sometime!), La Montagna represents both the strength of the Italian Nebbiolo grape, as well as what it takes to be a female winemaker in a male-dominated industry.
2019 marks Adrice Wines’ 3rd vintage of Washington Nebbiolo and oh wow, does this vintage remind us of a classic Italian Nebbiolo considered one of Italy’s top dry food wines. Translucent garnet in color, your nose is greeted with an open spice box filled with an assortment of earthy-herbal notes (cedar, evergreen, pine bark, rose hips) and sweet cherry. On the mouth, you're surprisingly greeted with both robust tannins and high acidity, and a mouth full of ripe pie cherry and the taste of mouthwatering rose.
Well-balanced and integrated tannins make this dry wine a perfect complement to savory and tomato-y foods. We can’t say this enough – PAIR THIS STRONG WOMAN WITH FOOD! Creamy mozzarella brings out even more fruit. Gooey Margarita Pizza with fresh basil is a perfect match to her strong tannins and acidity. Get creative with a charcuterie board of dried meats and salami, roasted garlic, olives, capers and mushroom wedges.
