The third in our “Strong Women” label series honoring this county's hard-working Women – our 2018 La Montagna Riveter jumped into a new barrel room…much like Adrice Wines jumped into a new, larger, better Winery and Tasting Room this year! She’s strong as a mountain and just as beautiful as our 2016 Washington Nebbiolo – only better! Sporting her Adrice Wines logo tattoo, she represents both the strength of the Italian Nebbiolo grape, as well as what it takes to be a female winemaker in a male-dominated industry.
Typical of Italian Nebbiolo wines, our Washington La Montagna is a translucent medium garnet color and has a sweet floral nose followed by cherry and bergamot. But on the palate, La Montagna is no shrinking violet. When you taste it, you're greeted with tart cherry, anise, white pepper, and sweet tobacco.
A high tannin / high acid wine like La Montagna is best paired with fat-absorbing or higher-acid foods. Serve with olive tapenade on crostini bread, pepperoni pizza, or with a beautiful London Broil (if you are lucky enough to know how to make one)! Nebbiolo is traditionally paired with Italian foods, and it has been well-received alongside Asian cuisine with brown sauces and Asian 5-spices sauces.
