Name Origin – Cabbera - When one of our favorite club members and friends – Julie Frank (aka: Jul) was helping us perfect this yummy blend, she suggested the natural mash-up of the two grapes that make up this beautiful wine..."Cab" for the Cabernet Sauvignon - and "bera" for the Italian varietal Barbera. Welcome to CABBERA!
Of all the new wines being released in July of 2020 - "Jul" would proudly tell you this surprising blend is the biggest! Cab lovers will smile, as a traditional 'warm climate’ Cab nose greets you with tobacco, toffee, darker fruits, and leather.
The Barbera surprises your palate by bringing forward wild strawberry, baking spices, citrus fruits, and vanilla. Cabbera reminds you of your favorite Cab…only better…with that crisp, fruity, higher-acid Barbera blended in.
Cabbera will pair well with rich, dense beef dishes, pork loin with a fig and Synergy Port sauce, seared duck with braised greens, or sliced oranges drizzled with EVOO and rosemary.
Our 2018 Cabbera is drinking beautiful today – and given that the Barbera grapes came from only 4-year-old vines…we wonder what a 6-month to 1-year cellaring and additional integration with that Cabernet Sauvignon will do to this stunner. Consider picking up an extra bottle (or 6 – because you’re gunna want to) – and cellar some if you can. We think that “Jul” might be right, that because we added that extra 1% LOVE…Cabbera might become the new favorite wine at your address!!!!!
