The third in our Riveter Women label series honoring this county's hard working Riveter Women - this La Montagna woman - is strong as a mountain. Sporting her Adrice Wines logo tattoo, she represents both the strength of the Italian Nebbiolo grape, as well as what it takes to be a female winemaker in a male-dominated industry. Typical of Italian Nebbiolo wines, our Washington La Montagna is a translucent pale garnet, and has a delicate nose of anise and rose. But when you taste it, you're surprisingly greeted with robust tannins, high acidity, and a mouth full of red fruits of cherry, raspberry and lingonberry. A high tannin / high acid wine like La Montagna is best paired with fat-absorbing or higher-acid foods. Serve with pork sausage, roasted game hen, prosciutto, or braised duck. Even though Nebbiolo is traditionally paired with Italian foods, it has been well-received alongside Asian cuisine with brown sauces and Asian 5-spices sauces.
