It's been a while since our original Winery Dog DEXTER passed away and our 100% French Malbec - Dextérité was released in his honor.  Just over two years ago – his brother DEKKER joined the family and has proudly stepped in to run and jump over every barrel, bin, counter and customer he can find!  40-pounds of sheer muscle – Dekker the Dekker Terrier looked this sweet and innocent for only the first week that we had him.  Since then, Winemaker Pam calls him a “Rat Terrorist”.  But he must have done something right in his two short years to already get his own wine label…and you GOTTA love that little bugger don’t you?

Dekker’s Nectar is a beautiful, dry pale salmon color that attacks your front palate with juicy acidity (much like how Dekker jumps into almost every guest’s lap when you least expect it!)  It’s chock-full of gorgeous red fruits on the nose like ripe strawberry, cherry, raspberry, and red plum.  The predominant strawberry aromas carry forward from nose to mouth, fully coating your palate in yumminess and surprising minerality.  Look for a tich of bitter herbs like elderberry (so common in Cab Franc) to glance the palate as you finish your swallow.  Dekker’s Nectar is full-bodied for a rose – and it's going to fly out the door as only 28 cases were produced in the 2022 harvest.

Pair your Dekker’s Nectar with Miso-glazed Salmon or Cod over sticky rice.  Or consider other salty/minerally delights like Oysters, Salad Niçoise, or Manchego cheese!

We can’t promise that friendly dogs from all over the neighborhood won’t jump up in your lap while you’re enjoying a glass of Dekker’s Nectar with friends.  But if they do…know that deep inside those innocent eyes is a heart of gold!  Enjoy!
