Name Origin - Bella - People everywhere comment on the creative names of many of our Adrice Wines.  Naming this beauty Bella was easy - it truly is a BEAUTIFUL wine.  And the best way to acknowledge a beautiful Italian grape varietal - is to use her native tongue.  Bella means, and is...BEAUTIFUL!

The 2020 vintage of Bella Barbera is just as beautiful as it’s earlier sister (our 2018 vintage) and believe you me – we learned our lesson about this grape back then!  We only made one experimental barrel of the 2018 Barbera – and we literally sold out within 5 days from its release.  So in 2020, we made close to two barrels….and our gut tells us this vintage may sell out just as quickly! 

Get a jump on this beautiful wine by decanting it for around 30 minutes before serving.  We say that, because we were amazed by what just 30-minutes in a flat decanter did to open Bella’s aromas.  This leggy, high-acid beauty greets your nose with elegant and refined dried Italian herbs, ripe cherry, and tich of black pepper.  Then BAM…tart cherry & mulberry on your palate followed by those same soft Italian herbs, black pepper, a little sage, and anise.  This Barbera is absolutely Bella as she lights up the roof of your mouth with her acidity.  You’ll want to hold a swallow in your mouth for an extra beat before she whisks down your throat leaving you yearning for more. 

Bella’s “lip-smacking acidity” leaves you yearning to pare this wine with roasted vegetable-driven dishes – Moussaka, Ratatouille, or Eggplant Parmesan.  Or some light Greek food will pair beautifully as well!
